The Year of ME
Once upon a time I started following a blog called itjustgetsstranger.com. It is hilarious and uplifting and just the right thing to pick you up in the middle of a blah kind of day. Well today I was back at work after taking an actual break over Christmas and just feeling overwhelmed. Overwhelmed by the amazing goals I won't be setting because I'll just fail at them. Overwhelmed by the progress happening in lives that aren't mine. Overwhelmed by the constant question of where my career is headed. Overwhelmed by my inbox and the mountain of packages on my desk.
So I took a minute to read Eli's blog, and found this gem. And suddenly, my life didn't feel super overwhelming. I felt like instead of trying to fix my health and lose the pounds I don't like and get married and become wildly successful in my career, I could just pick ONE. Pick a theme and run with it to improve how I feel about ME.
So, 2017, I am officially calling you "The Year of ME". It is my year to focus on liking myself again, to focus on finding out who I am now and focus on just liking me again.
I know that sounds like a big task. So I decided to break it down into smaller monthly themes. I figure if I try to blog about all of it, it will help me stay accountable, so here they are:
January: Refresh and Renew
February: Love and Self-Care
March: Finding Peace
April: Have Hope
May: Generate a Grateful Soul
June: Take Time to Create
July: Joy in the Journey
August: Family
September: Love to Learn
October: Focus on Forgiveness
November: Cherish Friendship
December: Sense of Wonder
For the first time I think ever, I am excited to start something new in January. This doesn't feel like a goal I can't reach, more like an attitude adjustment to find a more lovable version of myself for myself. I feel like so often I try to set goals to make me look better or seem better to others, but right now it is just about me liking me.
Watch out 2017. I'm ready for you.
